| Bringing your beloved pet to a new grooming salon for the first time could be a daunting time for you and your pet. Some have heard ‘horror’ stories from family and friends, some have had their own experiences. We do understand these feelings of apprehension and are more than happy to alleviate any concerns by answering any questions you have regarding your pet’s welfare in our care. Let’s face it they are like our children and you have a right to ask. Below are some of the common questions asked by our new clients, if you have any others please feel free to call and speak to our friendly team. We are about making grooming a positive experience for you and more importantly, your pet. |
| When can I bring my new puppy in for grooming? We advise that you have guidance from your vet as to when it is an appropriate time for your puppy to be out and about with other dogs. This usually is after their second lot of vaccinations to be sure they have full coverage. Whilst we have strict cleanliness procedures in place it is always better to be safe then sorry. |

Can you trim just nails? Yes, we ask that you give us a quick call and we will let you know when is convenient to drop in and have this done. There is no need to make an appointment as this will only take 2-5 minutes. We do this while you wait. |

Can you clip my puppy for its first visit? From past experience we prefer not to clip puppies for their first visit with us as it can be very frightening for these little treasures. Even though grooming has been done at home, in the salon setting it can be a lot more overwhelming. Our recommendation is to make their first visit a positive one by doing a smaller service for them. A mini pamper pack with a face, feet and tail trim gives them exposure to all possible grooming aspects in a smaller dose. |
| How long does my pet need to be with you? Your pet needs to be with us for at least four hours, this is to ensure that the animal has a little time to settle in and then be taken through their grooming without rushing the job. During the animals stay with us they will be housed in their own little house with water in air conditioned comfort. We do not allow the animals to mingle as this can be risky if there should be a ‘clash’ of personalities. |
| My pet’s coat is really matted, can you brush it out rather than clip? Once we have had an opportunity to inspect the coat and assess the extent of the matting we will then advise you of what is achievable. We do not brush out badly matted coats as this very painful for the animal and our policy is Humanity over Vanity. |

Do you sedate animals in your care? NO! It is our opinion that this is something that should be administered by a vet and the animal’s vitals should be monitored whilst under sedation to avoid any health complications. |
| My dog needs to be bathed in a special shampoo prescribed by the vet? It is very common for pets to have special shampoos with an increase in dogs presenting with skin allergies. We do recommend that you bring this shampoo with you to the appointment and it will be used on your pet. It is always best to do, so as not to upset or irritate the skin. We also sell a lot of these shampoos should you need more. |

My dog bites, what do you do? We are all too aware that any dog is capable of biting, even the most quiet of pooches. We will always let you know if this does occur during their visit with us to keep you informed. Please don’t see this as a complaint from us but as a communication of any possible changes in their behaviour. If we do come across a dog that bites we do use soft muzzles to protect us from being bitten but more importantly to protect your pet from biting sharp scissors and equipment. |
| My cat is always sedated and clipped at the vet, are you able to groom my cat? Cats are very much their own person and every cat is different. From past experience we have found that cats that have had regular clipping and grooming throughout their life are quite happy to be groomed unsedated. We will definitely attempt to groom any cat and make an assessment. Very rarely have we been unable to groom a cat. If we feel that your pet is overly stressed we will advise you of this and cease grooming. |
